hey, hey, did you know..? the leaves in the trees, they're dancing for us!

huh?

and not just the trees, but the flowers, and the grass, and... and even their children!

no... that's the wind. it just blows them around.

mm. i know. but... did you know that they make the wind? with their performance, they move the air so much, it gets all over us!

actually, the wind moves them. how else would you explain why they move together?

true, i know. but, did you know... the trees and the flowers and the grass, they've been family so long, they're experts at syncronizing their performance.

no. don't you get that that's a worse explanation?

and not just the trees do it, but the flowers, and the grass, and... and even their children! tiny little dances.

we used to sit and watch them, even while we worked. but now... they mostly perform for themselves.

but, plants aren't people. they don't move on their own, and they can't see anything.

i know. but... did you know they show their feelings through their dance?

ugh, come on.

when they're excited! when they're upset. when they're happy to be living! when they look at the world with feelings we don't even have, ones we can't understand.

plants... plants don't have feelings?

ah, i know. but did you see? they way they move... it's all different speeds, but all at the same speed.

what?

little dances, big dances. fast feelings, slow feelings. and just... wow... do you see how they shine? they shine for us, but not just for us!

uh huh. who else do they shine for.

so many of them, they shine up into the sky! they're so precise, they beam their light right up into that glowing circle up there!

no, no, that's the sun. why do you keep getting cause and effect mixed up?

yes, the sun. i know! but did you notice... the wires dance too. they're learning from the trees, the flowers and the grass. but... the wires are still so young, even their adults are still children.

okay, listen. stop. you're being weird. i guess... you're just trying to make the world sound all sweet and more pretty than it really is.

...

the plants move because the air moves. the sun, up in space, heats up our planet unevenly, and because of how temperature and air works, cold air moves in to replace warm air.

it speeds up and slows down because the process is very random. the leaves shine because the sunlight bounces off of them and into our eyes. it's just that!

...i know. and... isn't that beautiful?
